Defy Destiny... | home
Okay, okay. For those of you who haven't seen the series, have only heard bits and pieces of the series, or just want to learn more... here's a page for you! This is going to be on the Starlights/Three Lights and how they act, who they are, etc. Not the typical physical features, battle moves ,etc. that you get normally. I've just seen so many OOC fanfictions with the Lights that makes me wonder if people have truly been that misinformed or if they did it on purpose. I was way OOC originally because I based the Lights behaviors on other people's stories... and rumors. Since I've seen the series I believe I've become much better.
Oh! And always keep in mind, this is the anime version! NOT the manga!
Anyhow, soem beginning questionts:
Who are the Starlights? What about the Three Lights?
So... are they male or female?
They're from where? Looking for who?
What's with the attitude?
"Kou"... is it the 'family' name? or given name? ;;U_U <= sorry, this'll truly be my opinion!
Oh come on, how can you say Seiya and Usagi as a couple is possible?
Hi there. I assume you've continued reading because you wish to know more about the Starlights/Three Lights. Pull up a chair and let's begin...
The Starlights consist of Sailor Star Maker, Sailor Star Healer, and Sailor Star Fighter. They are female in appearence, but I'll get into the gender 'issue' later. They are the three senshi we (the viewers) know to be from Kinmoku. I've gotten the feeling, however, that there are other senshi on Kinmoku-sei as is similar to all the senshi on Earth. Anyhow, Kinmoku was virtually destroyed when Sailor Galaxia -- the golden senshi -- arrived and took all the starseeds that she could. The Starlights and the planet's princess, Kakyuu-hime [Princess Fireball], were the only ones to escape. Kakyuu fled the planet in search of "the Light of Hope" and soon the Starlights followed after to protect her. Somehow they lost her, only knowing that she had arrived on Earth. They, too, landed and had to don new identities to make their search for Kakyuu possible.
It is unknown how the Sailor Starlights ever ended up as the idol group Three Lights, but that is what happened. Three Lights consists of Taiki Kou [Maker], Yaten Kou [Healer], and Seiya Kou [Fighter]. (Note: "_____ Kou" is how they introduce themselves. This is why there is such a debate on wheter or not Kou is the made-up 'family' name or not since in Japan they introduce themselves by way of family name, then given name.) They some way or another take on male forms, finding it easier to atract women to them. I know that sounds odd, but there's even some quote like that in the series, something Seiya says like 'it is easier to find a lady in this form'. It means they were searching for Kakyuu and that to find her, they thought it best to look male and lead her to them through songs.
Three Lights sing their songs with meaningful lyrics (see the lyrics page once it's up and running) that openly express that they are searching for someone. "Search for you love". They feel that as senshi they did not protect their princess and that they have failed. The Lights sing to call her back to them so that they may protect her again and return home.
Now, before we move on I'll get into the gender confusion. This, I'm stating right now, is mostly my opinion and hardly from research. From what I have looked at, it seems that on Kinmoku-sei they really didn't have genders. Yeah, it's female appearence to us, but it seems that that was what it is on Kinmoku-sei. As Taiki, Yaten, and Seiya, the Lights are most definately male (IN THE ANIME!!! this is different in the manga!! But I have not read the manga so don't come here for anymore manga info!!!!). ;;U_U As Starlights/senshi they appear female and most likely are female to Earth standards. So what gender are they? ::sweatdrop:: Just reread this short paragraph. Example: Seiya is male; Fighter is female. Just think of it that way. BUT they are NOT two seperate people! Seiya is Fighter, just that in senshi form (s)he is female and as the de-transformed, idol singer -- Seiya -- (s)he is male.
Moving on... Here I'll get into the personalities and then after this, some reactions and such between Usagi/ Eternal Sailor Moon and the Three Lights/ Starlights.
![]() Taiki Kou; idol, male singer in Three Lights. Alias, Sailor Star Maker. Taiki and Maker's attitudes are a bit seperate in the beginning -- later on in the series, it merges a bit more. Taiki is incredibly studious and has the brains and skills to easily rival (and sometimes beat!) Mizuno Ami. That's even more of an accomplisment than Urawa Ryo! (That kid that likes and Ami and vice versa in the first season.) Anyhow, this *is* about **Taiki**. ;;UU Taiki isn't really quiet, but is polite and often formal. You can tell by much of his speech that this is true. He writes poetry and seems to be a fan of that sort of literature too -- since he sometimes quotes poems. He seems to be on okay terms with Ami, Minako, Makoto, and Usagi. Actually, in the beginning he's a bit amused with the odango-ed one. There really isn't all that much interaction with Rei, though he's okay there too. He's not fully outgoing with them, though, and often times he and Ami get all weird trying to beat each other. @_@ (Note: "Our Night Together. Usagi's Pinch!" or something like that.) In that episode, the Lights and girls are all playing cards around Usagi's table at home. I'm not sure which card game it is, but there's a few minutes of obviously challenging dialogue between Ami and Taiki as they try to out-wit each other. All the others are sweatdropping by that point. ... This paragraph is, of course, all *pre*-find-out-who-everyone-is. As in: the Lights and senshi don't know who's who yet! Keep that in mind. Oh, he seems to get annoyed by Minako's constint chasng of him [and Yaten] and deals with it with witty brush-offs or he just deals with it with an annoyed look. Oh, and I know I said he isn't all that out-going, but he isn't as still as a rock. He will play around a bit when the scene deems it.
Star Maker. She is very seriously dedicated to her mission of finding Kakyuu just as the other Starlights are. Her mood in battle is always serious and focused. She prefers to do things on her own, not really liking the Earth senshi's help. [again note that this whole paragraph is pre-finding out time until otherwise stated.] Maker doesn't let anything get in her way, she'll fight no matter what the circumstance and is more than willing just to kill the phage (which is actually a human without their starseed) -- after a few times of ESM [eternal sailor moon] convincing her that she (ESM) could just heal the phages, Maker just will attack to stun long enough for it to be healed.
Oooo boy.... after "Usagi's Night Flight" -- the episode in which the Lights are forced to transform as are the inners; so everyone knows one another's identities -- there's actually a big old change. ::cringe:: Taiki is withdrawn and actually seemily pretty bitter. Mostly towards the Earth senshi. He does get quite mad with Seiya whenever he tries to bring things together, though. Taiki mostly ignores the Earth senshi and avoids them. When they do come in contact, little is said or he'll refer to them being unable to protect themselves and that it is "Tsukino Usagi -- Sailor Moon's -- fault that Seiya was hurt...". That refers to the episode *right after* everyone is revealed ["Torn Between Duty and Friendship!"]. ESM is fighting with Lead Crow while Tin Nyanko hides off to the side and prepares to kill ESM with a blast from some cat-paw-gun. @_@ Nyanko sends off the beam and Seiya suddenly runs out from a nearby building to block ESM before it hits her. He is badly injured by his head -- I'm assuming a concussion of some sorts. Usagi never lives that down and is constantly blamed for it by Yaten and Taiki. Maker acts much the same, fully dedicated to the mission and not caring about anything else. She is determined to find the Princess since as Taiki, (s)he can smell Kakyuu's scent somehow. Another last-note on Taiki is that he is truly concerned about Seiya and actually reacts to him when Seiya withdraws himself or when he is in pain.
Yaten Kou; male idol of Three Lights. Alias Sailor Star Healer. |
